2006 Honoree - HM3 Nathaniel Leoncio

Navy corpsman Nathaniel Leoncio was awarded the Bronze Star on April 6, 2006 for his brave efforts in Ramadi, Iraq last October. Leoncio displayed his admirable courage when his vehicle was hit by a number of roadside bombs causing the humvee to flip over. In the chaos, Leoncio’s right leg was severed below the knee. Despite his injuries, which included a shattered femur and internal bleeding, Leoncio remained in the vehicle in order to help his fellow Marines that were injured in the blast. Placing all others before himself, Leoncio would not leave until he was certain everyone was evacuated. He was then evacuated and received the medical attention he needed in Germany and the United States. Leoncio felt that he did what any of his fellow Marines would have done for him, but the United States Marine Corps and the Good Guys felt he displayed extraordinary bravery. The Good Guys of Morgan Run were proud to award Leoncio with $5,000 raised from the 2006 Charity Golf Tournament.

2006 Event
From the $100,000 raised in 2006, we were able to provide individual grants of $5,000 each to 20 wounded Marines. They all suffered life threatening injuries while in Iraq or Afghanistan, and many of them received recognition for their bravery in combat. Through their heroic actions, they have served our country and protected our freedom. The Good Guys were fortunate enough to give them something in return for their service, and there are many more Marines who deserve the same.
